Senior MEP Manager

Date Posted: December 15, 2025

Job Description

The Senior MEP Manager leads the design, installation, and commissioning of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for large-scale Data Center projects. In this high-impact role, you oversee the technical backbone of the facility—including critical power distribution, advanced cooling architectures, and fire suppression systems. You drive the project from pre-construction through to final integrated testing (IST), ensuring that all MEP infrastructure meets the ultra-high reliability and redundancy requirements (Tier III/IV) essential for mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead MEP Strategy by overseeing the end-to-end delivery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing workstreams for hyperscale or colocation data centers.
  • Master Critical Infrastructure by managing the installation and testing of high-voltage systems, UPS, backup generators, and complex HVAC/chilled water systems.
  • Drive Technical Reviews of design drawings, submittals, and BIM models to identify clashes and ensure systems meet strict performance specifications.
  • Direct Commissioning (Cx) activities, guiding the project through Level 1–5 testing to verify that all systems function under full load and failover scenarios.
  • Coordinate Specialized Contractors and vendors, ensuring that MEP installation adheres to the project schedule, budget, and safety standards.
  • Manage Quality Assurance by performing rigorous site inspections and audits to verify that all work complies with local codes and international standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942).
  • Champion Sustainable Design by implementing energy-efficient solutions to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE).
  • Interface with Stakeholders including clients, utility providers, and local authorities to secure necessary permits and power allocations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in MEP management, with at least 5 years specifically dedicated to Data Center or mission-critical projects.
  • Deep understanding of medium-to-low voltage distribution, CRAC/CRAH units, and Building Management Systems (BMS/EPMS).
  • Experience navigating the 5 levels of data center commissioning, culminating in Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  • Ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and manage high-value subcontracts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines, NFPA codes, and Tier Classification requirements.
  • Apply strong problem-solving abilities to resolve complex engineering clashes and technical roadblocks during construction.
  • Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) credential.
