Job Description
Reporting to the Digital Project Lead, the Automation OEM Engineer takes full ownership of the OEM and associated Computer System Validation (CSV) scope. In this role, you drive the technical integration of PLC/SCADA elements by collaborating closely with Digital, Automation, and IT teams. You manage the entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for OEM systems, ensuring that vendor-delivered solutions meet strict site standards, safety requirements, and GxP compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead PLC/SCADA Scoping by partnering with site teams to define changes, technology selection, and system configurations.
- Manage the SDLC Process by updating requirement specs, managing change controls, and executing robust test protocols.
- Oversee CSV Deliverables including the preparation and approval of quality assurance plans, test scripts, and close-out reports.
- Manage System Inventory and drive necessary upgrades to ensure PLC/SCADA infrastructure remains current and secure.
- Collaborate with OEM Vendors to build cost-effective support models and ensure reliable service-level agreements (SLAs) are in place.
- Direct Field Testing by supporting equipment commissioning and verification activities on the manufacturing floor.
- Ensure Corporate Alignment by working with IT to implement secure automation solutions that follow global hardware and software standards.
- Educate Project Teams on automation standards, validation methodologies, and business process optimization.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in PLC applications with formal training in PLC standards and batch systems.
- Excellent understanding of cGMP, SDLC methodologies, and data integrity principles.
- Proven ability to define business problems, develop business cases, and identify process solutions.
- Familiarity with LEAN, MPS, or Six Sigma principles to drive process efficiency.
- Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on commissioning in a Life Sciences environment using Siemens WinCC/S7, Aveva (OSI) PI, or Kneat.
- Experience with WFI distribution, Building Management Systems (BMS), or fill-finish and packaging equipment.
