Job Description
The Cost Controller drives financial planning, cost monitoring, and reporting for pharmaceutical manufacturing and capital projects. This position ensures project expenditures track accurately, budgets remain under control, and financial performance aligns with project objectives within a regulated GMP environment. With 2–3 years of experience, you bridge the gap between engineering execution and corporate finance, ensuring every purchase order and contractor invoice matches the Master Budget and strict regulatory compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Monitoring & Control: Track project expenditures against approved budgets. Maintain cost control systems and update cost reports regularly. Identify cost variances and escalate potential budget overruns.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare project budgets and cost forecasts. Support financial planning activities across project phases. Monitor committed costs and forecast final project costs.
Financial Reporting: Generate periodic cost reports and dashboards for project managers and stakeholders. Analyze cost performance and provide variance explanations. Execute monthly financial closing and reporting activities.
Project Coordination: Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, and Finance teams. Manage purchase orders, invoices, and contractor costs. Direct contract administration and payment tracking.
Documentation & Compliance: Align cost documentation with internal financial procedures and audit requirements. Maintain records of project financial data for traceability and compliance. Lead audits and internal financial reviews.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or Accounting.
- 2–3 years of experience in cost control, project finance, or quantity surveying. Priority is given to candidates with experience in Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, or Semi-conductor capital projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex financial modeling for project cash flow).
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Primavera Unifier is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering progress reports and translate them into financial risk assessments.
- Excellent ability to collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure technical progress matches financial reporting.
