Job Description
The DeltaV Automation Engineer supports a major capital investment program for a global pharmaceutical leader. In this role, you drive the full lifecycle of biologics manufacturing, from initial development to commercial production. You are responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of Emerson DeltaV control systems. Consequently, you ensure that automation architecture remains robust, compliant, and ready for high-volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure Control Systems: Design and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems (PCS). Furthermore, you must develop and manage DeltaV Batch recipes and their associated modules.
- Integrate Digital Infrastructure: Support the seamless integration of DeltaV with MES, data historians, and broader IT infrastructure. In doing so, you will ensure data flows accurately across the manufacturing floor.
- Define Requirements: Collaborate with product teams and digital stakeholders. Together, you will define clear system requirements that align with biologics process needs.
- Lead Testing Phases: Participate actively in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Additionally, you will lead commissioning and qualification (C&Q) activities to ensure system readiness.
- Optimize Performance: Troubleshoot automation systems within a strict GMP environment. As a result, you will minimize downtime and optimize system efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience with Emerson DeltaV systems is mandatory. Specifically, you must demonstrate a strong background in DeltaV Batch configuration and library management.
- Extensive experience across the full automation project lifecycle. This includes moving from initial design through to commissioning and validation.
- Solid experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other GMP-regulated industries. Moreover, you should be familiar with MES integration and modern digital manufacturing environments.
- Experience working on major capital investment programs.
- Exposure to biologics or clinical manufacturing environments.
- An understanding of process automation platforms beyond DeltaV is a distinct advantage.
Working Model
- This role features a hybrid setup with an initial on-site presence in Rahway, NJ.
- Once you establish project familiarity, the team offers remote work flexibility. However, you should expect occasional travel to the site every few weeks depending on the project phase.
