Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the design, coordination, and site supervision of mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, etc.) for data center construction projects. You will act as the key liaison between internal stakeholders, external consultants, and subcontractors across project phases from design to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design reviews and ensure compliance with data center standards, local codes, and global best practices.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (electrical, civil, commissioning) and manage mechanical design consultants and subcontractors.
Oversee mechanical site installation works including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions.
Monitor project timelines and report progress on mechanical work packages.
Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and safety compliance.
Provide technical resolution for site issues during construction and commissioning.
Support testing and commissioning of mechanical systems (e.g., chilled water, CRAH, AHUs).
Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation plans related to mechanical scope.
Mentor junior engineers and ensure technical standards are met across the team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, with 3+ years in data center or mission-critical facilities.
Proven experience leading mechanical design and/or installation for complex infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with relevant standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, etc.).
Knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, and fire protection systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and/or BIM coordination tools.
