Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Process Automation Engineer to join our team for an exciting greenfield food manufacturing project based in Noord Brabant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) and extensive experience with Siemens automation systems. This role is crucial for the successful setup and operation of our new facility, ensuring that all automation processes are optimized for efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement process automation systems using Siemens PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Perform Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) engineering tasks, including specification, selection, and integration of equipment and instrumentation.
- Develop and configure control systems, including HMI interfaces, to ensure seamless operation of manufacturing processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as food industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, mechanical engineers, and production staff, to integrate automation solutions into the manufacturing process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all automation systems, including system design, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor and report on the performance of automation systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing enhancements.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in process automation and apply this knowledge to improve system performance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process automation engineering, with a focus on E&I and Siemens systems; preferably in food or pharma manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Siemens automation systems (e.g. WinCC, S5 -S7), PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMI development.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in automation engineering software and tools.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to food manufacturing and process automation.
