Project Automation Area Lead

Job Description

The Project Automation Area Lead takes technical ownership of control systems within a specific program area of a state-of-the-art multi-product site. You are responsible for shaping the automation architecture, defining ISA-88 structures, and managing system integrators. Your goal is to ensure that complex software deliverables are compliant, consistent, and integrated seamlessly with the broader facility automation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership: Lead automation design and execution for a defined project area.
  • ISA-88 Architecture: Define software structures and draft functional design specifications (FDS) for Batch recipes and phases.
  • Design Review: Oversee functional requirements, control strategies, and participate in P&ID reviews to ensure automation robustness.
  • Vendor Management: Guide system integrators and vendors to ensure deliverables align with program standards.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and remediate software gaps, technical risks, and integration issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure all solutions meet GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and Computer System Validation (CSV) principles.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: 8+ years in Pharmaceutical automation (API or bulk manufacturing preferred).
  • DCS Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs and a deep understanding of CSV and GMPs.
  • Project History: Proven track record in large-scale pharmaceutical capital projects.
  • Education: BS in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
