Project Safety Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Project Safety Engineer with experience in any industry, preferably pharmaceutical industry to join our team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, and promoting a culture of safety across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project safety plans, policies, and procedures in compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects to identify potential safety hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning, design, and execution.
  • Provide safety expertise and guidance to project teams, contractors, and construction personnel, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify and address safety concerns, hazards, and non-compliance issues.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices, and provide training and guidance to personnel on safety practices and procedures.
  • Review contractor safety plans, permits, and documentation to ensure alignment with project safety requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and other external stakeholders on safety-related matters, permits, and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project safety management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, NFPA, and local regulatory requirements in Singapore.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of safety.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CIH) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, with strong report writing and documentation skills.
