Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for mechanical engineering aspects of projects, ensuring best practices and compliance with relevant standards.
- Design, evaluate, and optimise mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, and structural components.
- Provide expert guidance on troubleshooting, failure analysis, and performance improvements of mechanical systems.
- Support project teams with technical specifications, design reviews, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry codes (e.g., ASME, ISO, API), and company policies.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions to enhance energy efficiency, reliability, and system longevity.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, automation, and process engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Lead technical training and mentorship programmes for junior engineers and project teams.
- Assist in vendor selection, procurement, and quality assurance of mechanical components and systems.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to verify proper installation and operation of mechanical systems.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with expertise in data centre constructions.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical system design, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and materials science.
- Experience with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Revit MEP).
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, ISO, and local building codes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide innovative solutions to complex mechanical challenges.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent certification is a plus.
