We are proud to have contributed to a significant S$800 million (€558 million) Modulus project in Singapore by submitting and successfully placing contract candidates. This state-of-the-art facility, located in Tuas Biomedical Park, marks a pivotal step in redefining biopharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthens Singapore’s position in the global healthcare landscape.
About the facility
It’s Modulus facility in Singapore is Asia’s first of its kind, complementing a similar site completed in France. It represents a new generation of evolutive multi-product facilities that are modular, adaptable, and agile, leveraging disruptive technologies to address challenges in vaccine business and Specialty Care Biologics products. The facility incorporates a novel modular concept that shortens production timelines and allows for rapid changes in production capacities across different medicines.
A key focus of the Modulus facility is its high level of digitalisation and automation. It uses cutting-edge technology and advanced data analytics, with digital technology used to collect data in conjunction with science to improve and accelerate production. This includes technologies such as autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), cobots, and cloud systems, enabling ‘paperless’ production and labs in some areas.
Furthermore, the facility is designed with sustainability at its core. It is a low-carbon facility and incorporates green technology, such as solar panels, the purchase of green electricity, and the use of recycled materials in its construction. This aligns with their broader commitment to Planet Care and its ambition for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, with a trajectory towards carbon neutrality by 2030. Sanofi aims for a 55% reduction in scopes 1 & 2 GHG emissions and a 30% reduction in scope 3 by 2030, and to source 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

Our Contribution
The Modulus facility is expected to generate approximately 200 new jobs in Singapore.
